Lockdown 3.0

It’s now week 3 of Lockdown 3.0, January has almost been and gone. But I don’t know about you but this one is much harder than the first and second lockdowns. I think that is down to the darker nights, wet and colder weather and we are now all thinking if and when this will all end. When will we be able to socialise and have friends around for dinner? When will we be able to go out to a restaurant or a pub? When will we be able to go on holiday again and not be hit with quarantine at the end of it? (I’m hoping for March or early April as Tom and I are meant to be heading to Rome for a long weekend and we had to reschedule it once before)

With the first lockdown we had the warmer weather and the lighter evenings to enjoy evening walks after work. I was placed on furlough so I had more time at home. With the second lockdown we had an end date but with this one we are uncertain when it will end, some are saying it will be March and some are saying the summer months.

But think of the restaurants and the shops. We are going to end up with 100s of empty shops and restaurants on our high streets. In the news you see of the next company that has gone into administration. I’m trying not to look at the news as much as it just gets you down. Instead, I spend my time scrolling through social media wasting time.

With this one and the November Lockdown I’m working, so it doesn’t feel much different. Don’t get me wrong I’m grateful that I’m able to work or even have a job in these crazy and uncertain times. I’m thankful for being out of the flat for 40 hours a week and having some adult interaction with people other than my husband.

But it still is tough, there not a lot you can do, to relax, it’s dark when I get home and there is not a lot you can do at the weekends if it’s good weather you could go for a walk but that’s about it. Don’t get me wrong I love a walk and we have become lazier and would much rather spend time watching the next series that we binge as we get hooked on.

The January blues has seriously kicked in, we need to beat these January and lockdown blues as soon it’s going to be warmer and the nights will get lighter. We need to keep in touch with people and take care of ourselves and most importantly BE KIND to each other!
