Date Night in Lockdown

My husband and I have had a few date nights during lockdown. Seeing as we are unable to go to a restaurant. We decided to make our own three-course meal, the only downside being is that we have to cook and clean up but it was fun after all. As I work in early years I decided to create a menu and laminate it. There was only one choice for each, what kind of restaurant was it we visited.

None the less we got dressed up and enjoyed our meal ‘out’. For started we had homemade bread brie with salad. It’s one of my favourite things, I mean who doesn’t like breaded cheese. Next up was sticky chicken and roasted vegetable kebabs a favourite of ours that we found on BBC good food last summer, served with couscous. Finally, it was dessert a chocolate mouse made using a recipe that I have seen many of my friends use on Instagram, it’s from gusto and it is truly tasty.

We then spent the evening playing some card games and bananagrams.

Top tips for date night while on lockdown:

1. Get dressed up, if you are like me your lockdown outfits have been leggings and hoodies anything comfortable. So get dressed up into something different so you feel dressed up.

2. Light some candles - atmosphere is everything.

3. Play some chilled pop music or what every your into on Spotify

4. Cook together, one of you do one course and the other do the other one.

5. Remove phones from the situation. Sometimes I find myself and my husband both on our phones and not really spending time with each other. So move your phones to another room or put them in a drawer.

6. Have FUN and Enjoy!

We have also had a make your own pizza night with Gin Cocktails and a movie night. It's all about embracing the change!
